What it means

This code appears on Samsung front-load and top-load washing machines when the water in the tub rises above the allowed level; older models show the same fault as OE. The washer usually runs the drain pump to lower the water, and water may keep entering if the inlet valve is stuck open. The same code can mean something else on other brands.

How to diagnose5

1. Turn off the water tap right away, unplug the washer and dry any water on the floor.
2. With the washer unplugged, open the tap slightly for a short time: if water still flows in, the valve is stuck open. Then close the tap.
3. Drain the water through the pump filter with a towel and shallow tray, taking care if the water is hot.
4. A technician unplugs the washer before opening it, then checks and tests the inlet valve against the manufacturer specification.
5. The technician checks the level sensor hose and the sensor, then the valve output on the main board.

1. Keep the tap closed until the repair, and use a suitable detergent to avoid heavy suds.
2. Clean or replace the water level sensor hose.
3. Replace the water inlet valve if it sticks open or leaks when closed.
4. Replace the water level sensor if confirmed faulty.
5. Repair or replace the main board if it holds the valve open.
6. Run a supervised cycle and confirm water stops at the normal level and the code does not return.
