What it means

The engine computer found the diesel particulate filter (DPF) pressure sensor signal above its maximum allowed value. This usually means an open sensor ground or a signal wire shorted to voltage, and the computer may think the filter is full and limit engine power.

Engine in limp mode with a loss of power.
Unneeded, repeated regeneration attempts on some vehicles.

How to diagnose5

Watch the differential pressure reading with the engine off; a very high reading with no real pressure confirms an electrical fault.
Unplug the connector and watch the reading; if it stays high, the fault is usually in the wiring.
Measure the ground wire resistance between the sensor and the computer.
Inspect the wiring for a short to voltage, especially near the exhaust.
If the wiring is good, test the sensor or substitute a known-good one.
