Diesel Particulate Filter Pressure Sensor "A" Circuit Range/Performance
What it means
The engine computer found that the pressure difference reading across the diesel particulate filter (DPF) is implausible for the engine operating conditions, such as a reading that does not change with RPM or a high reading with the engine off. The most common cause is a problem with the sensor hoses rather than the sensor itself.
Symptoms4
- Check engine light on, possibly with the DPF warning light.
- Loss of power or limp mode.
- Frequent regenerations, or none at all.
- Higher fuel consumption.
Possible causes5
- Cracked, disconnected or melted sensor hose to the exhaust.
- Sensor hoses or ports blocked by soot or condensation.
- Inlet and outlet hoses swapped after earlier service work.
- Drifting sensor reading.
- A truly restricted DPF or an exhaust leak ahead of it.
How to diagnose5
- Inspect both sensor hoses along their length for cracks, melting or disconnection.
- Confirm each hose is on the correct port according to the service information.
- Disconnect and clean the hoses and confirm air passes freely.
- Watch the differential pressure reading with the engine off and then at higher RPM; it should be near zero, then rise smoothly.
- Compare the scan tool soot estimate with the actual filter condition, and check the exhaust for leaks.
How to fix5
- Refit the hoses to the correct ports.
- Clean or replace cracked or blocked hoses.
- Replace the DPF pressure sensor if its reading stays implausible.
- Repair any exhaust leak, and clean the filter if it is proven restricted.
- Clear the codes, run a regeneration if needed, and confirm the code does not return.
Repair cost
In Saudi riyals; the highlighted part is the expected range for this fault.
The cost is low for a hose or a fitting error, rises for a new sensor, and reaches the upper end if the filter needs cleaning.
Prices are rough estimates for common cars at independent workshops and vary with the car and the source of the part.

Frequently asked questions
Why check the hoses before the sensor?
The small hoses near the hot exhaust often crack or block with soot, and any leak in them gives a wrong reading even with a good sensor.
Can this code lead to a clogged filter?
Yes, over time, because a wrong reading may make the computer delay regeneration so soot builds up.
