What it means

This code appears on LG dishwashers with a digital display and means the main board detected that the motor, usually the wash (circulation) pump motor that sprays water onto the dishes, is not running as it should. The cause can be an object jamming the pump, loose wiring or a failed pump. The cycle stops or the dishes are not cleaned; the same code on LG washing machines has its own page, and it can mean something else on other brands.

A clogged filter starving the pump of water so it runs abnormally.
Loose or corroded motor connector or wiring.

A fault in the motor drive circuit on the main board.

How to diagnose5

Unplug the dishwasher for a few minutes and restart; if the code returns, the fault is real.
Remove the lower rack and clean the filter in the bottom, checking there is no glass or debris in the opening beneath it.
Make sure the spray arms turn freely by hand and are not blocked by dishes.
If the code repeats, a technician unplugs the dishwasher before opening it, checks the circulation pump impeller, motor connector and wiring, and measures the motor against the manufacturer specification.
If the motor and wiring are good, the main board is at fault.

Clean the filter and remove debris trapped beneath it.
The technician removes the object jammed in the circulation pump impeller.
Repair the motor connector or wiring.
Replace the circulation pump or its motor if proven faulty.
Replace the main board only if the motor and wiring are proven good.
Run a full cycle and confirm normal spraying and clean dishes without the code returning.

Can a broken glass inside the dishwasher cause this code?

Yes. Small glass fragments can reach the pump and jam the impeller. Unplug the unit and clean the filter carefully; if the code stays, a technician opens the pump and removes the pieces.

Is LE on a dishwasher the same as on a washing machine?

Both concern a motor, but on a dishwasher it usually means the circulation pump motor, and on a washer the drum motor, so the causes and repairs differ.
