What it means

This code appears on Samsung inverter split wall units such as WindFree and Digital Inverter. It means the DC link voltage inside the outdoor inverter board went above or below its allowed range, so the outdoor board stopped the compressor for protection. It is usually linked to the incoming supply voltage or a board fault. Wording can differ between tables, and the same code can mean something else on other brands.

E466 shows and cooling stops suddenly.
The code repeats when the supply is weak, high or after outages.

How to diagnose5

Switch off the breaker for several minutes, restart and note whether the code follows supply fluctuations.
A technician measures supply voltage at the outdoor unit terminals with the compressor running and compares it with the nameplate.
Check terminals, the breaker and the supply cable size.
After discharge, inspect the outdoor board for swollen capacitors or burn marks.
Measure the DC link voltage per the Samsung service manual, carefully, because it is a high and dangerous voltage.

Tighten or replace damaged terminals and the breaker if needed.
Fit a voltage protector rated for the unit.
Replace the supply cable with a correctly sized one.
Replace the outdoor PCB if the incoming voltage is good.
