What it means

The fuel rail pressure sensor measures the fuel pressure reaching the injectors, and the engine computer relies on it to control the fuel pump and injection quantity, especially on direct injection and diesel engines. The computer has found a fault in this sensor's circuit, so the engine may enter a reduced-power protection mode, be hard to start or stall.

Inspect the connector and wiring for corrosion, damage or signs of fuel.
Measure reference voltage, ground and signal at the connector using the manufacturer wiring diagram.
On low-pressure gasoline systems the reading can be compared with a mechanical gauge, while high-pressure systems need special tools and care.

Clean the connector or repair damaged wiring.
Repair a shorted reference circuit, unplugging the sensors that share it one by one to find the culprit.
Replace the rail pressure sensor if proven faulty, noting that some engines require replacing the whole rail.
Repair any fuel leak around the sensor.
Clear the codes and confirm the reading is stable and matches the specification while running.
