What it means

This code appears on Samsung inverter split wall units such as WindFree and Digital Inverter. It means the compressor overload protection (OLP) sensor, a temperature sensor that watches how hot the compressor gets in the outdoor unit, is giving an impossible reading because of an open or short circuit. The unit stops the compressor because it cannot protect it without this reading. The sensor type and position differ between outdoor units, and the same code can mean something else on other brands.

E320 shows and the compressor does not run.
The indoor fan, and sometimes the outdoor fan, runs without cooling.

How to diagnose5

Switch off the breaker for a few minutes, then restart.
After discharge, a technician locates the sensor per the Samsung manual for the model and checks its plug and wire.
Measure the sensor and compare the reading with Samsung specification.
Look for heat damage or melting on the wire near the compressor.
If the sensor is good, check its input on the outdoor board.

E320 means the protection sensor itself has an electrical fault. E465 means the compressor really was overloaded and the protection stopped it.

Is E320 common after service?

Yes. If the sensor plug was not reconnected or its wire was pinched during work on the outdoor unit, the code can appear.
