What it means

On Siemens front-load washing machines this code means the machine opened the inlet valve but the water level did not rise as expected within the set time. The washer stays in the fill stage until the cause is fixed, and the tap, inlet hose or its filter is usually the problem. Older Siemens models may show the fault as an F code such as F17, and the same number can mean something else on other brands.

A blocked mesh filter at the machine end or tap end of the inlet hose.
The inlet hose squeezed between the machine and the wall.
Low pressure in the house supply or from the roof tank.
The Aquastop leak protection at the hose end has tripped (on models that have it).
A faulty water inlet valve or water level (pressure) sensor.

How to diagnose5

Unplug the washer, then fill a bucket from the same tap to confirm pressure is good.
Follow the inlet hose from the tap to the machine and make sure it is not squeezed or kinked.
Close the tap, disconnect the hose and clean the mesh filters at both ends with an old toothbrush.
Check the Aquastop box at the tap; if it shows a red indicator, the hose needs replacing.
If the fault remains, a technician unplugs the washer before opening it and checks the inlet valve coils and the level sensor tube.

Open the tap fully and start the program again.
Clean the mesh filters, or replace the hose if damaged.
Move the washer slightly away from the wall so the hose is not squeezed.
Replace the Aquastop hose if its indicator has tripped.
Have the technician replace the inlet valve or level sensor if confirmed faulty, then run a short program to confirm a normal fill.

How do I know the Aquastop hose is the cause?

Many hoses have a small window in the box at the tap. If it shows red, the protection has tripped, no water passes, and the hose must be replaced.

Do older Siemens washers show a different code for this fault?

Yes. Older models show codes starting with F, and slow filling there is usually F17. The checks are the same.

Water reaches the kitchen at good pressure, so why is the washer not filling?

The blockage is usually in the small mesh filter at the washer inlet or in the hose itself, and these do not affect the other taps.
