What it means

This code appears on LG inverter split air conditioners and on LG ducted and cassette units that use CH codes. It means the condenser coil temperature in the outdoor unit went above the safe limit, so the outdoor unit is not rejecting heat properly. The unit slows or stops the compressor for protection and restarts once the temperature falls. It is common in the Saudi summer with dust and high heat, and the same code can mean something else on other brands.

Models covered: LG inverter split air conditioners (e.g. Dual Inverter) and LG ducted/cassette units that use CH codes; the code shows as CH plus a number on the display or as LED blinks.

How to diagnose5

Switch off at the breaker, clear anything around the outdoor unit and look at how clean the condenser fins are.
When running, make sure the outdoor fan spins strongly and hot air is not coming back into the unit.
A technician washes the condenser, then measures pressures and pipe temperatures against LG specification.
Check the outdoor fan motor and its speed.
If no heat cause is found, measure the condenser sensor against the LG table.

Give the condenser a full wash from the inside out, gently, without bending fins.
Improve the outdoor unit location or give it shade and ventilation without blocking air in or out.
Repair the outdoor fan or replace its motor.
Correct the refrigerant charge by evacuating and weighing in (licensed technician).
Replace the condenser sensor if its reading is wrong.
Run the unit at midday and confirm the code does not return.
