What it means

This is a Nissan-specific code for vehicles with ASCD cruise control; the same number can mean something different on other makes. Cruise control needs an accurate vehicle speed, and the engine computer receives two speed signals from different sources, usually over the CAN network from the transmission control module (TCM) and from the meter or ABS system. The code sets when the difference between the two is large, and cruise control is canceled.

Models covered: Nissan models with ASCD (cruise control), mainly around 2002–2010.

Cruise control does not work or drops out suddenly.
The check engine light may come on.
An ABS light or speedometer fault may appear if a wheel speed sensor is the cause.

Inspect the wheel speed sensors, the transmission speed sensor and their wiring.
Check the CAN network connections if communication codes such as U1000 are present.
