What it means

This is a Nissan-specific code for vehicles with ASCD cruise control; the same number can mean something different on other makes. It means the engine computer is receiving an implausible signal from the cruise control buttons on the steering wheel, such as an out-of-range voltage or a button that appears held down. Cruise control is then canceled, while the car otherwise drives normally.

Models covered: Nissan models with ASCD (cruise control), mainly around 2002–2010.

Press each cruise button and watch its signal on a Nissan-capable scan tool.
Make sure the buttons do not stay pressed and spring back freely.
If other steering wheel buttons or the horn also fail, the spiral cable is the likely cause.
Check connectors and wiring per the wiring diagram, following safety precautions for the steering wheel airbag.
