What it means

This is a Honda- and Acura-specific code; the same number can mean something different on other makes. The engine computer commanded the EGR valve open, but the valve lift sensor showed it did not open as far as expected. It is roughly equivalent to generic P0401, and on Hondas the most common cause is carbon in the valve or in the EGR ports inside the intake manifold.
