What it means

This is a Honda- and Acura-specific code; the same number can mean something different on other makes. The engine computer found a leak on the canister side of the EVAP system: the canister, the vent shut valve, the purge valve and the hoses between them. It barely affects driving, but tightening the fuel cap will not fix it.

Models covered: Honda and Acura models, mainly around 1996–2010 (e.g. Accord, Civic, CR-V, Odyssey, Pilot).

Check voltage and wiring at the vent valve and purge valve.

Replace the leaking hose or fitting.
Clean or replace the vent shut valve.
Replace the purge valve if it is proven to leak.
Replace the canister if it is cracked or damaged.
Clear the code and confirm the system test passes after driving.
