What it means

The engine computer has found that the fuel temperature reading is implausible even though the circuit does not look open or shorted, for example it does not change as the engine warms or differs greatly from air and engine temperatures after a long soak. This usually means the sensor has drifted or there is extra resistance in the circuit.

After the car has sat overnight, compare fuel temperature with coolant and intake air temperatures; a large difference points to the drifting sensor.
Confirm the intake air and coolant temperature sensors read correctly before condemning the fuel sensor.
Watch the reading while driving; it should change gradually, not jump or stay completely fixed.
Inspect the connector and measure sensor resistance against the manufacturer chart.

Clean the connector and tighten its terminals.
Repair any other sensor proven to read wrong.
Replace the fuel temperature sensor if it is off the chart.
Clear the codes and confirm the readings agree after a cold start.
