What it means

The airbag control module (SRS) has detected a fault in the deployment (squib) circuit for stage 1 of the driver frontal airbag, such as an open, a short or a resistance out of range. The airbag light comes on, and the driver airbag may not deploy in a crash.

Checks the history: was the steering wheel or dashboard worked on, or an airbag replaced, recently?
Checks the horn and steering wheel buttons, since failure along with this code points to the clock spring.
With the battery disconnected and the wait time the manufacturer specifies, inspects the connectors and wiring and follows the approved test procedure.
Do not unplug or test any airbag system connector yourself, since the airbag could deploy suddenly and cause injury.

Reseat a loose connector or repair a corroded one.
