What it means

This code appears on Gree split air conditioners when the compressor overload protector opens because of high compressor temperature or current. The compressor stops and only restarts after the protector cools. Repeated H3 is a sign of a fault that must be fixed before the compressor is damaged. The same code can mean something else on other brands.

4. The technician measures voltage and compressor current while running and compares with the nameplate.
5. The technician tests the compressor windings and insulation before deciding to replace it.

1. Clean the condenser, repair the outdoor fan and improve ventilation.
2. Have a licensed technician repair the leak and recharge by weight.
3. Replace the capacitor or fit a voltage protector if voltage is the cause.
