What it means

This code appears on Gree split air conditioners when the indoor evaporator temperature drops close to freezing during cooling or dry mode. The unit stops the compressor temporarily while the indoor fan keeps running until the coil warms up, then resumes on its own. The same code can mean something else on other brands.

Models covered: Gree split (wall-mounted) air conditioners, mainly inverter models; the code shows on the indoor unit display. Older non-inverter models may show fewer codes.

How to diagnose5

Switch off the power, remove and wash the filters, let them dry, then restart.
If the coil is iced, run fan-only mode until it has fully melted before cooling again.
Confirm the indoor fan changes speed when you change it on the remote.
The technician checks operating pressure and looks for a leak if it is low.
The technician measures the evaporator sensor resistance and compares it with the manufacturer table at a known temperature.

Clean the filters every two weeks in the dusty season.
Wash the evaporator and indoor blower during a full service.
Raise the set temperature and avoid the lowest fan speed combined with the lowest setting.
Have a licensed technician repair the leak and recharge if the charge is low.
Replace the evaporator sensor or fan motor as tested, then run the unit for an hour and confirm the code does not return.
