What it means

This code appears on Daikin split, ducted and cassette air conditioners and means the board did not receive a proper rotation signal from the indoor fan motor, or the motor is drawing too much current because it is stuck or dragging. The unit stops to protect the motor and the board, and the same code can mean something else on other brands.

Models covered: Daikin split air conditioners and Daikin ducted/cassette (SkyAir) units, which share the same error code system; the code shows on the wired remote or via the wireless remote check function.

How to diagnose5

Switch the unit off at the breaker before touching it.
With the power off, turn the fan gently by hand: it should spin freely without rubbing.
Look for foreign objects or heavy dirt on the fan blades.
A technician checks the motor connector and wiring and tests the motor and its rotation signal per the Daikin service manual.
If the motor is good but the signal does not arrive, the board is the likely fault.

Remove any foreign objects and clean the fan and indoor unit.
Reseat the motor connector or repair the damaged wire.
Replace the indoor fan motor if it is seized or faulty.
Replace the indoor PCB if its fan circuit is proven faulty.

Can dirt alone cause A6?

Yes. Dust and grease on the blower wheel add weight and unbalance it, and cleaning it may be enough. Always switch off the power first.

Why does the unit stop instead of running with a weak fan?

Running the compressor without enough air over the evaporator freezes it, and a stuck motor can overheat and damage the board, so the system shuts down to protect itself.
