What it means

This code appears on Fujitsu General split and ducted units on the wired remote or indoor display; older models show it as a number of indicator lamp blinks instead of a number. It means the protection circuit on the inverter board detected a sudden overcurrent in the compressor drive and cut operation at once. It is one of the most serious outdoor codes because the cause may be a short in the compressor or the power module (IPM). The same number can mean something different on other brands.

4. The technician measures winding resistance and insulation to the frame against the manufacturer specification.
5. The technician tests the power module and inverter board output using the service manual.

How to fix5

1. Keep the unit off and call a technician qualified on inverter boards.
2. Repair or replace burnt compressor wiring.
3. Replace the inverter board at an authorized service center if the power module has failed.
4. Replace the compressor first if it is shorted or seized, before fitting a new board.
5. Fit a voltage protector, then confirm the code does not return.
