What it means

This code appears on Samsung refrigerators with a digital display when the condenser fan in the compressor compartment at the lower back does not turn, or its signal does not reach the control board. Without this fan the condenser cannot shed heat well, so cooling weakens and the compressor runs hot. The same code can mean something else on other brands, and its meaning may differ between some Samsung series.

How to diagnose5

Make sure the rear or bottom grille is not blocked and there is proper space between the fridge and the wall, as the user manual advises.
Unplug the fridge, then vacuum visible dust from the outer grille without opening any cover.
Restart and listen for the rear fan once the compressor starts.
A technician unplugs the fridge before opening the compressor compartment cover, then cleans the condenser and fan and checks the blades turn freely.
The technician checks the fan motor, its wiring and the control board output using the manufacturer procedure.

Move the fridge away from the wall by the recommended distance and clear anything blocking the grille.
Clean dust from the outer grille regularly.
The technician cleans the condenser and fan inside the compressor compartment and removes any caught object.
Replace the condenser fan motor if confirmed faulty.
Repair the wiring or control board if confirmed as the cause.
After restarting, confirm the fan turns, cooling improves and the code does not return.

Does summer dust affect this code?

Yes. Dust buildup on the condenser and fan is common in hot, dusty climates, and cleaning the outer grille regularly lowers the chance of the code.

Can I open the rear cover and clean the fan myself?

It is better for a technician to do this after unplugging the fridge, because the compressor compartment holds sensitive wiring and tubing. You can clean only the outer grille with the fridge unplugged.
