What it means

The tire pressure monitoring (TPMS) module receives signals from the tire sensors and sends the results to the instrument cluster. This code sets when messages from this module stop reaching the network, so low tire pressure warnings stop working. On some vehicles the TPMS function is built into the body control module (BCM) or another unit instead of a separate module.

  2. Try to connect to the TPMS module with a scan tool; if it does not respond, check its fuse, power and ground.
  3. Inspect the module connector for corrosion or loose pins.
  4. Check the network lines to the module against the manufacturer specification.
  5. Check tire pressures manually with a gauge until the system is fixed.

  1. Replace the blown fuse and charge a weak battery.
  2. Clean the module connector and repair the ground.
  3. Repair damaged network wiring.
  4. Replace the TPMS module if proven faulty, then program it and relearn the tire sensor IDs.

Is the problem in the tire sensors?

Usually not. A failed tire sensor sets its own sensor code. This code means the receiving module itself has dropped off the network.
