What it means

The engine computer has found that bank 1 runs lean while driving at higher RPM, not at idle, and that the fuel trim has reached its limit. This usually points to a fuel supply shortage or a MAF sensor under-reading, rather than a vacuum leak.

Dirty mass airflow (MAF) sensor under-reading as airflow rises.

Dirty or partly clogged injectors.

Exhaust leak ahead of the upstream oxygen sensor.

How to diagnose5

Watch short- and long-term fuel trims; if they rise with RPM and load, the cause is usually low fuel delivery or a low MAF reading.
Compare the MAF reading with the expected value for the engine size at higher RPM.
Measure fuel pressure under acceleration and load, not only at idle.
Inspect the intake duct between the MAF sensor and the throttle body for cracks.
If the bank 2 code is also stored, the cause is shared, such as fuel supply or the MAF sensor.

Clean the MAF sensor with a dedicated cleaner, and replace it if it still under-reads.
Replace a cracked intake duct.
Replace the fuel filter, pump or regulator based on the pressure test.
Clean the injectors or replace any faulty one.
Clear the codes and confirm the trims return to normal while driving.

P0171 is a general lean code, while P2177 says the mixture is lean above idle. That points testing toward fuel delivery and the MAF sensor more than vacuum leaks.

Will cleaning the MAF sensor fix it?

Sometimes, if it is dirty, but if the code returns, measure fuel pressure under load.
