Throttle Actuator A Control System - Stuck Closed
What it means
The engine computer has detected that the throttle plate does not open as commanded and stays closed or nearly closed. The engine then cannot get enough air, so it becomes very weak or stalls, and the computer enters limp mode.

- The engine does not respond, or responds very weakly, to the accelerator.
- Low, unstable idle or stalling at a stop.
- Check engine light on together with the electronic throttle warning light.
- Hard starting in some cases.

- Heavy carbon buildup around the plate holding it closed.
- Failed throttle motor or damaged gears.
- Fault in the throttle motor circuit preventing power from reaching it.
- Faulty throttle position sensor.
- Moisture freezing inside the throttle body in very cold weather, which is rare.
How to diagnose5
- Read all stored codes; motor circuit codes such as P2100 point to an electrical fault.
- Inspect the throttle plate with the engine off for carbon holding it shut.
- Watch commanded and actual throttle position on a scan tool while pressing the pedal with the key on and engine off.
- Check the throttle fuse, relay and connector.
- Measure the throttle motor resistance and compare it with the manufacturer specification.

- Clean carbon from the throttle body, then perform the relearn.
- Repair the faulty connector, wiring or fuse.
- Replace the throttle body if its motor or gears are damaged.
- Perform the throttle relearn procedure after any repair.
