What it means

This is a Ford, Lincoln and Mercury code; the same number can mean something different on other makes. The upstream oxygen sensor HO2S11 on bank 1 stayed lean and did not switch rich even though the computer tried adding fuel. 5. Test sensor response by briefly adding a rich mixture; if the reading does not rise, the sensor is weak.
