What it means

Usually shown as the word ECO or a leaf, green in color, this light means economy driving mode is on, so accelerator response is softer and the air conditioning may work less hard to save fuel. On some cars it lights automatically when you drive economically and goes out under hard acceleration. It is an information light, not a warning, and its behavior varies by make.

Possible causes4

Mode selected with a button or the drive mode menu, which is normal.

How to diagnose4

Check the owner manual to see whether the indicator shows a selected mode or your driving style.
Press the ECO button or change drive mode and see whether the indicator goes out.
If the car is very sluggish even outside ECO mode, the cause is not this mode and the engine needs checking.
At the workshop: check the drive mode button signal and read codes if needed.
