What it means

This code appears on Panasonic inverter split air conditioners and is read from the fault history with the CHECK button on the remote. It means the power module (IPM) on the outdoor board, the power transistors that drive the compressor, has gone above its protection temperature. The unit stops the compressor until it cools down and may lock out if the code repeats. The same number can mean something different on other brands.

Switch off at the breaker, let the unit cool, and clear anything around the outdoor unit.
Check that the outdoor fan spins strongly and the coil is not clogged with dust.
The technician checks the heat sink and its air path for dust or blockage.
The technician checks how the power module is mounted on the heat sink and the state of the thermal paste.
If the fault remains, the technician checks the board and its temperature sensor using the service manual.
