What it means

This code appears on electronic Indesit washing machines when the machine wants to heat but the water level sensor does not confirm that water covers the heating element, so heating is blocked to stop the element burning out. The machine usually stops, and the same number can mean something else on other brands. Codes differ between some Indesit series, so check your manual to confirm.

Models covered: Indesit washing machines on the electronic EVO platform; the code shows on the display or as blinking lights. Older mechanical models do not show codes.

The water in the drum looks lower than usual.

How to diagnose5

Open the tap fully, unplug the machine and clean the inlet hose filter.
Check the drain hose height and that it is not pushed deep into the drain pipe.
Run a program and watch the water level through the door glass.
The technician unplugs the machine before opening it, then checks the sensor tube for water or debris.
The technician tests the sensor and then the heater circuit on the board.

Set the drain hose at the correct height.
Clean the sensor tube and air chamber.
Replace the level sensor.
Repair or replace the main board if the relay is stuck, then run a hot program to confirm.
