What it means

This code appears on electronic Indesit washing machines when the main board sends power to the motor but receives no signal from the speed sensor (tachometer), meaning the motor is not turning or the signal is lost. The cycle stops, and the same number can mean something else on other brands. Codes differ between some Indesit series, so check your manual to confirm.

Models covered: Indesit washing machines on the electronic EVO platform; the code shows on the display or as blinking lights. Older mechanical models do not show codes.

The drum fills with water but does not turn.
A faint hum with no movement, or no sound at all.
The program stops and shows the code after several failed attempts to turn.
The drum may turn very slowly and then stop.

Failed speed sensor (tachometer) on the motor.

How to diagnose5

Unplug the machine and, once the drum is empty of water, turn it by hand with the door open; it should spin freely.
Reduce an oversized load and remove any garment caught between the drum and the door seal.
The technician unplugs the machine before removing the back panel, then checks the brush length.
The technician measures the speed sensor against the manufacturer specification and checks the wiring from motor to board.
If these parts are fine, the motor and then the main board are tested.

Reseat the motor connector and repair the wiring.
Replace the carbon brushes.
Replace the speed sensor where it is separate from the motor.
