What it means

This code appears on LG inverter split air conditioners and on LG ducted and cassette units that use CH codes. It means the thermistor on the evaporator outlet pipe is giving an impossible reading because of an open or short circuit. The unit uses the difference between the inlet and outlet sensors to control cooling, so the compressor normally stops until the sensor is fixed. The same code can mean something else on other brands.

Models covered: LG inverter split air conditioners (e.g. Dual Inverter) and LG ducted/cassette units that use CH codes; the code shows as CH plus a number on the display or as LED blinks.

CH06 shows on the display or as the matching blink pattern.
Cooling stops while the indoor fan may keep running.
The code comes back after every restart.

Unplugged connector or sensor slipped out of its holder on the pipe.
Failed sensor from constant moisture and condensation on the outlet pipe.
Cut or corroded sensor wire.
Inlet and outlet sensor plugs swapped by mistake after earlier service.
Faulty sensor input circuit on the indoor PCB.

How to diagnose5

Switch off the breaker for a few minutes, then restart.
A technician checks the sensor is fixed on the evaporator outlet pipe and the wire is intact.
Confirm each sensor plug is in its correct socket per the wiring diagram.
Measure the sensor resistance and compare it with the LG resistance-temperature table.
If the sensor is good, check the sensor input on the indoor PCB.

Refit the sensor, clean the connector and correct swapped plugs.
Repair the damaged wire.
Replace the evaporator outlet sensor (on some models it comes as an indoor sensor set).
Replace the indoor PCB if the sensor is proven good.
Run the unit and confirm stable cooling without the code returning.

Frequently asked questions

Can CH06 appear after earlier service?

Yes. If the inlet and outlet sensor plugs were swapped, or the sensor was not put back in its holder after cleaning, the code can appear.

Should both pipe sensors be replaced together?

Not necessarily, but on some models the indoor sensors come as one set, so the whole set is replaced at a similar cost.
