What it means

Vehicle modules share data over a network such as the CAN bus. This code is set when messages from the module that handles remote key functions stop reaching other modules. These functions include remote locking and unlocking and, on some vehicles, keyless start or remote start. The role and name of this module vary by manufacturer, and the cause is usually its power, ground or network wiring.

Locate the module using the manufacturer information and inspect its connector and network wiring for water, corrosion or damage.
Measure the network line resistance and compare it with the manufacturer specification.

Charge or replace the battery and clean its terminals.
Replace the blown fuse after confirming there is no short in the circuit.
Repair the ground, connector or network wiring, dry out any water and fix the leak.
Replace the module if proven faulty, programming it and the keys if the manufacturer requires it.
Clear the codes, test locking, unlocking and starting, and confirm the code does not return.
